Hey there, I am Tyan

I am too lucky to be able to help people live their most authentic and joyful lives. Growing up, I never quite fit in.

I am passionate about creating a space where it is safe to be yourself, understand yourself, and maybe even confront yourself without judgment from me or you. Basically, my goal is to be Planet Fitness.

My secret to the good life:
DESTINATIONS ARE WHERE WE BEGIN AGAIN

I have trained in cognitive behavioral therapies, behavioral-oriented therapy, and family/couples-oriented therapies. However, I am most thoroughly trained in humanistic-oriented therapies, which focuses on how you can use the strengths you already have to overcome whatever obstacle in front of you.

I am a budding psychologist in my final year of my doctorate in clinical psychology with five years of experience working with children, adults, LGBTQ+ individuals, individuals on the autism spectrum, severe mental illness, and currently incarcerated inmates.

My superpower is  my ability to see your strength, even if you can’t yet. I really do believe in that age old saying, “you can do anything you set your mind to."

You could say I wear rose colored glasses, and honestly, it is true. But they are prescription. I utilize strength-based techniques, humor, honesty, and genuineness to empower you to regain your sense of power and control in your life. My approach to coaching is just that – coaching. My goal is to help you reach your goals, how you want, at your pace (with some encouragement, of course). This is about you, and while I may be the professional, but you are the expert.

Through my personal and professional experiences, I have come to truly appreciate the strength, resiliency, knowledge, and power we possess as humans. My background in clinical psychology allows me to deeply empathize with you, consider your concerns and the impacts on multiple areas of your life (family, work, friends, community, etc.), to gently challenge you, and how to not judge you. I believe we are all great. And I ask you, can we agree that you are okay just the way you are AND that you need to change?

I BELIEVE IN:

Having fun. Laughter. Enjoying the small things.

I'm NOT ABOUT:

Mean people. Washing my hair every day. Paisleys. When people say they “could care less.”

Favorite to do List:

Going on adventures with my loved ones (camping, climbing, hiking, ect). Online shopping, scouring every item on the website, filling my cart with items I love, and not buying any of it. Sending letters and cards to my friends and family. Random facetimes calls with my best friend (and suddenly realizing we’ve been talking for three hours!)

Fun facts:

I am a girls softball umpire. I am an avid golfer. I cannot dance, but that doesn't stop me. My favorite animal is the sloth. I LOVE fun facts. I am always rocking crocs.

"Vanessa rocked my whole world with poignant questions that made me reevaluate my own mask to the world while being gentle enough that I wasn’t left feeling destroyed."
